George F. Chase account book. 1885-1890.

This envelope contains a small leather-bound account book which Boulder, Colo., pioneer George Franklin Chase kept during 1885-1890 while he was treasurer of the Boulder Masonic Lodge, Columbia Lodge No. 14. It lists dollar amounts loaned and paid, etc., and contains lists of members of several chapters of the Masons in about 1885, listing the date and amount of dues paid by each member.

Eugene Wilder was born in Canandaigua, N.Y. on 14 September 1840. He came to Blackhawk, Colorado in 1863, where he was foreman of the Blackhawk Journal. In Central City he was foreman of the Register. In 1874 he moved to Boulder, where he owned and operated the News, later the News and Courier. Wilder was initiated into Masonry in Central City in 1865, and later belonged to Columbia Lodge No. 14. Harriet was his sister. From the description of Eugene and Harriet Wilder papers 1887-19...
